Insurance Companies Fear Teenage Drivers

Many parents are scared to death of sitting in the passenger seat while their bright-eyed teen sets forth on the swervy path to learning to drive. The sad reality is that in the UK drivers under 25 years old account for a quarter of the drivers killed on the road.

Norwich Union found that young driver crashes are on the increase. Insurance claims have climbed an astounding 300% over the last 5 years calling for reforms such as a zero tolerant alcohol limit for drivers between the ages of 17 and 20. Are our kids getting enough education on the dangers of reckless driving? Parents are struggling with the fear of their child becoming seriously injured or killed and loosening the reigns to allow them to “experience as much as possible in life”.

According to the telegraph.co.uk, “The Department for Transport is currently consulting on proposals to reform the driving test, and the road safety charity Brake is campaigning for a novice period after the test, which would carry certain restrictions - such as not driving late at night or not carrying passengers under 21.”
