Britons Choosing The Frugal Route
Credit-crunched Britons are pulling purse strings and changing the way they spend. Halifax Home Insurance conducted a survey revealing that over two thirds questioned are making a conscious effort to save money as they head toward an uncertain economic horizon.
Is this all that bad? Prior to the current credit crisis borrowing money was almost as easy as spending all that easily accessible cash. However, credit has become much more difficult to obtain whilst household bills continue soar.
Increases in gas and electricity, food, and petrol are adding to the rise in inflation putting more stress on UK families. Repossessions are on the rise putting fear in the hearts of homeowners who are experiencing higher interest rates, or soon will be. Nothing new really. Perhaps it was time to reign in frivolous spending anyway?
The good news is out of those surveyed many say they are helping each other out, sharing tips on discounts and bargains they’ve seen with friends and family.
Here’s a tip to save on your food bill, go on a diet! That’s really the message here. Stop over indulging, over spending, over eating and drinking and before you know it you’ve still got a tenner in your pocket by the end of the week.
Next time you shop at the grocery store, make a few sacrifices when it comes time to choose between a name brand and the market’s own brand. Saving a few pence on that product, a few on another and you’ve just cut your food bill by 10-20%. Give it a go, it works!
